Abstract: The correlation and path analysis of 11 characters were studied with 12 cultivars of eggplant . The correlation coefficient between yield and the number of fruits was very significant,r8y=0.8027. The correlation coefficient between yield and the yield of earlier stage was significant,r9y=0.6376. The results on path analysis showed that the yield was affected mostly by two agronomic traits, the nuumber of fruits and average fruit mass. The yield was affected largely by the yield of earlier stage through average friut mass .Therefore, these three characters could be taken as selection characters for high yield.
