Abstract: Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) is one of the unique and traditional trees in China. As most of the cultivars have specific limitations, we urgently need to perform hybridization breeding in the future cultivars culture of Chinese jujube at present. Manpower hybridization breeding had many handicaps in Chinese jujube for reasons of their tiny flowers, low ratio of fruit-setting and less seeds in the stones in most cultivars. This review mainly summarized the progress on hybridization breeding of Chinese jujube, which included the florescent characteristices, the germination law of the pollen, the reproductive traits, the cross-fertilizing methods of Chinese jujube and the selection of the male and female parents. Traits separation laws of the natural hybridized seedlings by the “part segregation method”, the importance of hybridization breeding of Chinese jujube and its prospect were also discussed in this review.
