Abstract:

The aim was to study the control effects of pelargonic acid. The effect of 30% pelargonic acid on annual gramineous weeds and broad leaf weeds control in the uncultivated field was studied in this paper. By dividing testing areas and drug treating, the coverage and fresh weight control effects were investigated after 3 days, 5 days and 7 days treatment. The results indicated that a variety of annual weeds could be well controlled with 30% pelargonic acid EW at the active ingredient contents of 25-40 kg/hm2(the test concentrations of 83.4 to 133.3 L/hm2 ). After 7 days treatment, the coverage and fresh weight control effects on annual weeds reached 85%, which were not significantly different from the contrast paraquat AS at the active ingredient contents of 0.45kg/hm2 (the test concentration of 2.25L/hm2). However, the coverage effects of 30% pelargonic acid EW at the active ingredient contents of 40 kg/hm2( the test concentrations of 133.3 L/hm2 ) on gramineous weeds and broad leaf weeds highly reached 94.87% and 92.36% respectively as well as the fresh weight control effects reached 95.28% and 92.66% respectively. Pelargonic acid’s characters of efficiency, contacting and non-selectivity could meet the demand of weeds management in the uncultivated field, which is worth further researching and exploiting.
