Abstract: The land resources management of Mountainous areas is an extremely complex system and need to be used information methods for the scientific and highly effective management. Geographic Information System (GIS)，a kind of information technology with the formidable space-data processing and management ability, not only provides the technical support but also makes the land resources sustainable development .On the basis of the functions of Geographic Information System (GIS) and the land resources characteristics of Taihang mountainous areas in Hebei province, the use of GIS in the electronic ecology-map manufacture, the suitable appraisal of land resources, the plan of land utilization and the dynamic monitor of land utilization were discussed in the paper.
