Abstract:

Comprehensive analysis of the causes, mechanisms, systems and standards of the international carbon markets, as well as updates in domestic carbon market, is studied in the paper. The international carbon market is viewed composed of international compensation mechanism for carbon, carbon emissions trading system as well as the trading platform, which is a brand new set of market mechanisms created by developed countries for low-cost emission reductions in face of global warming. Standards for carbon offset projects that relative to low-carbon agriculture are viewed to be abundant in the international carbon market, being increasingly mature, which, if well utilized, will play an important role in promoting the development of carbon sequestration industry and the technological advancement in low-carbon emissions agriculture in or country. It’s also deemed in this paper that, In the context of economic globalization and socialist market economic system, to give full play to market mechanism, to follow the international standards for carbon offset projects and make good use of both international and domestic carbon markets is the most effective way for China to develop low-carbon agriculture by taking good advantage of both foreign and domestic social capital, and to implement its development strategies of industry nurturing agriculture and integration of urban and rural areas. Key Words: low-carbon agriculture;carbon dioxide; The Koyoto Protocol; carbon market; standards for carbon offset projects.
