Abstract: Since 2003, Avian influenza (bird flu) broke out more frequently and widely around the world and has brought a significant impact on poultry production and international trade.The avian influenza has become a common problem facing the international community. This article mainly introduced Canada’s compensation policy for destroyed birds, especially its compensation standards and method of calculation.And based on the introduction, some useful enlightenment was obtained to help improve China's compensation policy.The enlightenment includes the law making for the compensation, the incentive compatibility of the compensation policy, the compensation standards and scope, and method of calculating the amount as well
