Abstract: The status of land use and cover in Wangdonggou watershed on regional gully watershed on loss plateau has a big change in the past 20 years. Those are the dynamic index of land use in the area: cultivated land: 3.21%, orchard and perennial plantation: -36.11%, forest land: -4.05%, pasture and grazing land: 4.24%, rural settlement area and mining area and isolated industrial area: -0.62%, land for transportation: -12.27%, unused land: 1.85%. This is the tendency of those changes: cultivated land has been transferred to orchard and perennial plantation, the change of orchard and perennial plantation is obvious, the changes of the other land are inconspicuous. The reasons of those changes are Natural causes, society causes, economy causes, technology causes and policy causes. Because of this change and the real situation of regional gully watershed on loss plateau, for the part of land management and land administration we should attach importance to the relationship between the benefit of land production and the safety of foodstuff. First, we should ensure the safety of foodstuff in this area, and then we can realize the biggest benefit of land production.
