Recent Progress on Regulatory Mechanisms of Deer Antler Ossification

摘要: 鹿茸是一种特殊的周期性再生的哺乳动物骨质器官。鹿茸的发生起始源于生茸区骨膜,通过膜内成骨、过渡成骨和特殊的软骨内成骨实现鹿茸的整个成骨过程。鹿茸的周期性再生及成骨过程是多种因素及信号通路综合调控下的生物学过程。笔者概述了鹿茸成骨过程的组织基础以及这一过程中相关激素、细胞因子和信号通路等的调控机制,以期为鹿茸成骨机制研究及提高鹿茸产量提供借鉴。

Abstract: Deer antlers are unique mammalian bony organs with periodic regeneration. Development of deer antlers initiate from antlerogenic periosteum, and the processes of ossification of deer antlers include intramembranous, transitional and modified endochondral ossification. Multiple regulatory factors and signaling pathways involve in the ossification processes and regenerations of antlers. This article reviewed histological reports and regulatory mechanisms of hormones, cytokines and signal paths in this process to provide a reference for the study of ossification mechanisms and the improvement of antler production.
