Abstract: The rural tourism is a new attempt to extend modern tourism to traditional agriculture. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the rapid development of rural tourism practice has provided a large number of research cases for domestic scholars. It is urgent to summarize the researches and put forward the representative development model, to better guide the practice. From the concept of rural tourism, the essentials of rural tourism include the core connotation of spatial attribute, subjective attribute and resource (product) attributes. Based on that, the discussion and summary of the rural tourism development model and its influencing factors should also focus on the core influencing factors such as the development subject and the development stage of rural tourism, the geographical location of rural areas nd natural and cultural attributes, and should dynamically consider the role of each factor and their interrelationships. Results showed that: different rural tourism destinations have different locations, resource endowment, policy environment and the development stages, and there are also great differences in rural tourism development model. Rural tourism development model could not be judged as good or bad, only be suitable for or not. The model should adapt to local conditions and circumstances, and cannot be applied mechanically.
