Abstract: Based on the research current situation that is less on the quantitative research and the lawn characteristic research, 6 varieties of flowering cover plants, Viola Philippica, Medicago sativa,fragiferum, L, Trifolium pretense Dianthus chinensis and Dianthus plumarius were used to turf characteristic comparing test. The observation target include leaf density, leaf texture, leaf color, uniformity, flowering time, high, green time and all-round appraise. The test was placed to experiment station in Shanxi Agricultural University and the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) that by improved was used. The result showed that 6 varieties plants have lawn value and Dianthus chinensis and Dianthus plumarius are better. Especially all-round appraising result of Dianthus chinensis is most and a advice is given that Dianthus chinensis will be popularized widely. Generally speaking, the turfgrass quality evaluation way by improved is fit for lawn characteristic evaluation of low-growing cover plants.
