Abstract: Scientific & research institute works for knowledge innovation, which is an knowledge concentrated organization. Due to the variety of understandings, people define the knowledge management differently. this thesis analyzes the research background，necessity, contents and range of knowledge management in agricultural scientific research institution. On this basis, the author put forward the point that the core values of knowledge management is tacit knowledge transfer into explicit knowledge, which is assumed to throw light on knowledge management in practicing and set up the theoretical system of knowledge management.
