Abstract: The development of ion beam bio-technology is briefly summarized，and its basic principle and characteristics are described.It is analyzed in rice genetic improvement about the mutagenic effect and the transgenic effect of ion beam bio-technology，and it is thought that a novel situation of production and breeding in rice will be initiated by ion beam bio-technology.
