Abstract: A comparison of long-shoot pruning and traditional pruning was carried out from 2011 to 2014 on oil flat peach tree of‘Ziyue’,‘Xinyue’and‘Meiyue’. The influence of different pruning methods on photosynthetic rate, tree growth, all kinds of branch, one-year branch germination, fruit-setting rate, yield and fruit quality were studied. The results showed that the photosynthetic rate of oil flat peach by long-shoot pruning increased obviously; the number of 15-30 cm branches was significantly higher than that of traditional pruning; long fruit branches decreased; medium fruit branches, short pod-branch and posy branches increased significantly; the overgrown fruit branches had no big difference. The fruit-setting rate of long-shoot pruning was increased after the 1st and 3rd time physiological fruit-dropping. The yield per plant and the single fruit weight of long-shoot pruning were higher than those of traditional pruning. As to fruit quality, the soluble solids and the high quality fruit rate were increased by long-shoot pruning.
