Cadmium Accumulation and Yield Difference of Different Rice Varieties Under Cadmium Stress

Abstract: Abstract:【Research objectives】Study on Cd content in rice plants and Cd accumulation in different parts of rice under the Cd stress, to select out high Cd resistance and high-producing rice varieties.【Method】Take different varieties of japonica and indica rices as the research objects, by pot experiment, under two treatments of no adding Cd and Cd stress, discuss Cd content and Cd accumulation situation of different rice varieties in harvest time.【Consequence】Under the situation of no adding Cd and Cd stress treatment, Cd content in rice plant is generally Root>stem>leaf>the chaff>rice, and the Cd mainly concentrated in roots; varieties of Cds have differences in rice plants’ accumulation and distribution, especially the greater Cd accumulation in rice. Among 8 semilate rice varieties, the lowest increasing degree of Cd content is “Spring 84”, which shows a bit lower Cd accumulation ability; at the same time, it shows that under the Cd stress , japonica Cd accumulation is higher than nonglutinous rice. In terms of production, the production of indica reduced rapidly under the Cd stress,however, the japonica rices’ production all increased. 【Conclusion】Under the Cd stress,“Spring 84”has the lowest grains’ Cd content amplification, and it shows significantly Cd tolerance. Although its production has been influenced, from the security of cadmium, it can be used as a selection of Hunan Province’s Cd pollution regional varieties to be spread.
