In order to select quality Maryland tobacco varieties, which were appropriate for planting at Baoshan, the field comparison test of 7 introduced varieties were conducted and their agricultural and economic character, disease resistance were analysized. The agricultural character results showed that the plant height of Md40 and Md10 were higher than CK(Md609) and that of Wilson were lowest. The average leaf number was 25.43, higher than Md609, and there was no difference nearly among varieties. The growing stage of Md609, Md10, MdBL in fields was 84d however the Md872, Md40 was 91d. The resistance data indicated that the tobacco mosaic virus and tobacco black shank disease were found on all varieties, the virus disease incidence of Wilson was highest, that of Md872, Md40 were lowest among all tested material; Md201 and Wilson were easy to be infected by Phytophthora nicotianae, the variety Md609 was resistant to it. The economic character analysis indicated that the Md40, Md872 yield were higher than Md609, remarkable negative correlated to CK. The output value and the first–class tobacco proportion of each varieties were lower than CK. Md609, Md872, Md40 had better total characteristics so were consider primarily to be quality Maryland varieties, appropriate for planting at Baoshan.
