Abstract:

Abstract: the separation of japonica hybrid rice grains were studied on appearance qualities with the parent lines, Tyou418, and the control inbred variety liaojing9 as the materials. The result showed that the appearance qualities of F2 generation grains totally separated, of which the chalkiness separated the most (CV=224.25%), with the range went beyond their parents, the grain weight, length/width, length and the width went behind. Although its parents had few chalky grains, the chalkiness of the hybrid separated strongly, indicating that the chalkiness is controlled by polygene. It is concluded that not only the appearance but also the genotypes of the parents must be considered in the improvement of the hybrid rice qualities.
