Abstract:

The purpose is to explore the dynamic changes of blood physiological and biochemical indexes during the long-distance transportation of Ili horse. In this experiment, 6 male Ili horses were selected for transportation of 400 km lasting for 480 min. And jugular venous blood was collected for blood index detection at 8 time points (including before transportation, during transportation, and after transportation). The results showed that the total number of red blood cells (RBC) and the ratio of lymphocytes (LYM%) in horse blood decreased significantly (P<0.05), while the granulocyte (GRAN) and granulocyte ratio (GRAN%) increased significantly (P<0.05) after the horses were transported for 4 hours. After 6 hours of transportation, Triiodothyronine (T3), Tetraiodothyronine (T4), Growth Hormone (GH), Cortisol (COR), Albumin (ALD), Cholesterol (CHOL) all increased significantly (P<0.05), and Hematocrit (HCT) and Urea (UREA) decreased significantly (P<0.01). Long-distance transportation can change the blood indexes of horse and make them first increase and then decrease. The change peak mainly occurs at the 6th hour of transportation. The above indicators can be used as the key to determine whether the horse has transportation stress.

Key words: horse, long-distance transport, stress, blood index, law of dynamic change
