Abstract: In order to further improve the quality of full-time agriculture professional degree programmes and expand its education scale, a case study was conducted to the distant-water fisheries programme in the fisheries field of Shanghai Ocean University. The results showed that the main problems were: the students were in shortage and the academic level of them was low; curriculum was emphasized to application; the supervisor’s professional level was insufficient; the practice ability of part students was not enough; the dissertation was lack of practicability etc.. The recommended measures were: to conduct propaganda widely, to give the students right guidance, to provide professional scholarship, to establish a curriculum system both of basic theory and application of knowledge, to promote the supervisor’s professional level, to coordinate and innovate between university and enterprise, to improve the practicability and the quality of the thesis.
