Abstract:

Based on the investigation data on farmers’ production in four provinces, this study systematically analyzed the current situation and the relationship among yields, nutrient efficiencies and economic benefits of wheat, maize and rice in China, respectively, and explored limiting factors on high yield, high nutrient efficiency and high economic benefit. The results showed that in study area only few farmers simultaneously achieved the high yield, high nutrient efficiency and high economic benefits, while most of them were still in the status of low yield, low nutrient efficiency and low economic benefit. With the increasing of fertilizer application, grain yield didn’t increase accordingly due to there was no statistically significant correlation between them. However, significantly negative correlation existed between nutrient efficiency and fertilizer application rate. With the increase of yield, there was an obvious increasing of nutrient efficiency and economic benefit, and there was a significant correlation. It was concluded that increase the yield by optimizing management technologies of crop cultivation is a useful way to increase fertilizer use efficiency and farmers’ income.
