Abstract: To comprehensively evaluatePaphiopedilum , this paper used analytic hierarchy process to appraise 12 Paphiopedilum species. The analytic hierarchy process model established for Paphiopedilum evaluation included goal level, restraint layer, and marker bed. The goal level included the comprehensive assessment of Paphiopedilum . The restraint layer referred to plant shape, flower and leaf. The marker bed contained branch number, plant height, crown breadth, flower color, flower diameter, florescence, scape, leaf color, leaf length, leaf width, and the number of leaf. In the restraint layer, flower had the biggest weight, the next was leaf. In the marker bed of flower, flower diameter had the biggest weight, followed by flower color and florescence. In the marker bed of leaf, the number of leaf had the biggest weight, followed by leaf color. By the AHP, 12 Paphiopedilum species could be classified 3 grades. The comprehensive scores of P. philippinense , P. tigrinum ,P. hirsutissimum ,P. purpuratum ,P. dianthum ,P. henryanum ,P. malipoense were the best, and were the first choice in actual production process.
