Abstract: This research was done to explore the academic influence of 17 journals on aquaculture science and technology. The data of bibliometric parameters were collected from Chinese S T Journal Citation Reports (Expanded eition) in years 2014—2016. Seven main bibliometric parameters were listed to analyze the characteristics of 17 journals, including total citation frequency, the amount of source documents, impact factor, immediate index, other-citing rate, ratio of international papers and funding ratio. Simultaneously, assessment model was applied to assess academic influence of 17 journals. The results were that 4 bibliometric parameters of total citation frequency, immediate index, other-citing rate and ratio of funding ratio showed an upward trend; 2 bibliometric parameters of the amount of source documents and impact factor kept stable; ratio of international papers showed a slight decrease. But the change trend of academic influence showed various for each journal. The top five journals with the highest academic influence were Journal of Fisheries of China,Journal of Fishery Sciences of China, Periodical of Ocean University of China, Fisheries Science and Journal of Shanghai Ocean University. Compared with that in 2014, it increased at a rate of 8.98% for average academic influence of 17 journals in 2016. The top 3 journals with the fastest academic influence growth were South China Fisheries Science,Chinese Fishery Quality and Standards,Periodical of Ocean University of China. Generally speaking, most of the main bibliometric parameters show the same steady rise tendency as academic influence for 17 journals, but there is obvious difference among journals. Each journal should strengthen itself construction and enhance the influence by improving academic quality to promote a healthy and sustainable development.
