Abstract: Docosahexaenoicacid (DHA) is a class of polyunsaturated fatty acid with important physiological functions which the body could not synthesis. Exogenous supplementation of DHA can enhance immune function, physical fitness of human beings. Crypthecodinium cohnii is one of the ideal raw materials for the production ofDHA. In order to carry out DHA research on the large-scale production of Crypthecodinium cohnii in the future, this paper comprehensively analyzed the problems of the species of Cryptococcus, DHA biosynthesis, and the influence of culture conditions on DHA accumulation.Specifically, (1) the DHA production of the siblings of the cryptophyta is different, and the mutants can be screened to obtain new excellent lines by mutagenesis; (2) the biosynthesis of DHA is different from the biosynthesis of other fatty acids, The synthetic route is speculated, possibly the PKS pathway; (3) environmental conditions, including temperature, light, pH, dissolved oxygen, inoculum, defoaming, etc., and medium composition, including carbon source, nitrogen source, Culture conditions such as inorganic salts and trace elements affect the content of DHA in algae. Mutagenesis is a feasible method for obtaining high-yield DHA strains, and put forward the research prospect of DHA production by Cryptophyta.
