Abstract:

Based on the data of MODIS normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and surface temperature (Ts) products, we constructed Ts-NDVI feature space, calculated temperature vegetation drought index (TVDI), and analyzed and evaluated the spatial and temporal distribution of drought in Qujing, Yunnan from 2010 to 2012. The results showed that: Qujing suffered from severe drought in 2010 with the drought area accounted for more than 80% of the total study area, the drought dynamic monitoring method based on the TVDI index was suitable for drought monitoring. The temperature vegetation drought index model established in this study can improve the practicability of drought monitoring and has a good adaptability in Qujing, and can be widely used for improving the disaster prevention and mitigation and the sustainable development of agriculture.

Key words: TVDI, MODIS, drought monitoring, Qujing of Yunnan, remote sensing, disaster prevention and mitigation
