The genetic relationships between 8 cultivars and strains of Salvia splendens were studied by using RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) technique. 162 bands including 119 polymorphic bands were detected by 30 RAPD primers that were selected from 200 RAPD markers, and the genetic diversity was 73.46%. The result of clustering analysis by UPGMA method showed that the eight cultivars and strains were divided into two groups based on height of plant and its color.
