Abstract: To understand the income of herdsmen who live in the high altitude area, we investigated 179 herdsman households in Guoqing Village, Dangxiong County, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region from 2009 to 2014. The investigation contents included the breeding situation of domestic animals, family labors and annual income per capita. The results of the survey showed that the herdsman income and the amount of domestic animals were continually increasing, but the distribution of annual income per capita showed that households with low and middle income accounted for a large proportion. Based on these situations, we put forward suggestions such as improving quality and effectiveness of grassland husbandry and increasing employment rate of herdsmen with low income.
