Abstract:
Smilacina japonica is a perennial herb of Liliaceae, which has highly decorative values and thrives in the shade; it is a excellent shade plant. This paper discussed the effeets on the growth, photosynthesis and physiological character of Smilacina japonica under different shading treatments. The results showed that the light compensation point (LCP), light saturation point (LSP) were at a low level. The diurnal variation of net photosynthetic rate(Pn)presented the double-peak curve, with a clear “light lunch break” phenomenon. The plant height, single leaf area, specific leaf weight and the content of chlorophyll increased with the decrease in light transmittance degrees. Under 30% light transmittance degree, they were the highest. Fewer than 30% light transmittance degree, Smilacina japonica with dark green leaves had the best ornamental effect. The apex and margin of leaves in the sun turned yellow, and showed weak growth vigor. Comprehensively, Smilacina japonica grew better in 30% light intensity than the others.
