Abstract:

Dynamics of alfalfa nutrient in the different growing period was studied. The results showed that the water content of dry matter, the yield of the crude fat and ash at early turning green stage are highest, with accounting for 89.45%, 6.42% and 15.47% respectively. The crude fiber during the period of the turning yellow are highest, reaching 44.92%, furthermore, during the one month after the turning green stage the yield of the crude protein was highest, reaching 25.33%. With the plant growth time, the water content, the yield of crude ash, protein, and fat dropped gradually, while the content of crude fiber increased. Alfalfa nutritive value and forage quality decreased significantly with the maturity of the plant body, which are the best at early turning green stage, good at branching stage, poor at seed setting stage, and there is almost no value for feeding livestock at turning yellow stage.
