Abstract:

To utilize and effectively control Pachliopta aristolochiae adaeus, the life habit, food amount and body weight of Pachliopta aristolochiae adaeus larva being fed on leavies of Aristolochiae tagala were studied in the laboratory. The results showed that larvae had the habit of feeding on their own sloughs and killing each other. Food amount of the 1st to 3rd instars was smaller, accounted for 5.23% of the total food amount, while that of the 5th instars was the biggest, accounted for 77.11%. The trend of the feeding rate was similar to that of the feeding amount. The changes of body weight showed S-type in the larval stage.
