Abstract:

In order to study the effect of avirulent Ralstonia solanacearum strain FJAT-1458 on protective enzyme system of tomato, strain FJAT-1458 was inoculated into tomato plant as an exogenous microorganism. The tomato plants were sampled at different days after the inoculation for determination of plant height, root length and dry weight as well as the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) at different plant organs (root, stem and leaf). The results showed that the root length and dry weight and the plant height of tomato were not obviously affected by strain FJAT-1458(P>0.05), but the activities of antioxidant enzymes were significantly affected. The total activities of POD, PPO and SOD at different parts of tomato plant in treatment were significantly higher than in control. Moreover, the activity dynamics of POD, PPO and SOD were also significantly different between treatment and control. It was concluded that the inoculation of the avirulent R. solanacearum strain FJAT-1458 might improve the resistance of plant against the invasion of pathogen.
