Abstract:

In order to investigate the differences of two potassium efficiency cotton genotypes under water and low potassium stress, pot experiments were conducted to compare differences in some physiological and biochemical indexes and biomass between the two cotton genotypes. The results indicated that, there were a series of changes involving in the cotton growth status and some physiological and biochemical processes when the cottons were under water and low potassium stress condition, meanwhile the resistance was different between the different genotypes and growth periods. Results showed that, the chlorophyll content index and the biological yield of the high potassium efficiency cotton genotype (103) were higher than the low potassium efficiency cotton genotype (122) under different treatment conditions. The malondialdehyde (MDA) content of 103 was lower than 122, which showed that 103 possessed stronger resistance to water and low potassium stress. No significant difference on soluble sugar, proline (Pro) contents and peroxidase (POD) activity between the two genotypes.
