Abstract:
In order to clarify the time course of plant antioxidant defense to copper excess, under hydroponics, the response characters of 100 μmol/L CuSO4 treatment 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 days on lipid peroxidation, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) produce and antioxidant enzymes activities in roots of Elsholtzia haichowensis, a Cu-accumulator plant, were investigated. The results showed that Cu treatment day increase led to significantly increase on lipid peroxidation, H2O2 content and antioxidant enzymes activities in roots of E. haichowensis. It suggested that increase on the lipid peroxidation, H2O2 produce and antioxidant enzymes activities (especially CuZn-SOD and POD) could lead to the up-regulation of the antioxidant defence system in roots of E. haichowensis under Cu stress.
