Effect of CAS on the quality of longan fruits

Abstract: To improve the freshness of longan fruits, ISOLCELL ITALIA S.P.A was used to control the storage temperature, humidity and gas composition on this study. Conventiaral storage condition was used as control for comparison. Changes in quality nutrition and physico-chemical indices of longan fruits during storage was analyzed. The result showed that the controlled atmosphere storage (CAS), by decreasing O2 content and increasing CO2 concentration, reduced the respiration rate and slowed and the quality deterioration in storage of the longan fruits.
