Abstract:

The distinctness, uniformity and stability (DUS) test guideline was the reference and technical standards for the substantive examination. TGP/7 Development of Test Guidelines of International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) was the basis for research of test guidelines. The DUS test guideline for longan strictly followed the basic principle of TGP/7, used the descriptors for Longan for reference, thus determined 45 characteristics, 26 example varieties and assessment of DUS. This paper gave very detail description of research principles, grading criteria of characteristics and selection of characteristics and example varieties. It was also pointed out that the combination of DNA molecular markers and morphological test was direction of development of test guidelines.
