The Shimentai National Nature Reserve is located in the north of Yingde City of Guangdong Province, and which is characterized by south subtropical monsoon evergreen broadleaved forest and center subtropical monsoon typical evergreen broadleaved forest. With warm climate and plentiful rain, bamboo is exuberant in this reserve. Among these 10 genera, Bambusa had 12 species, the next was Phyllostachys which had 8 species (including form and cultivar), in addition, Arundinaria nuspicula was the new geographical distribution in Guangdong Province. The floristic characteristics of the reserve were the richness of species, the multiformity of the type, the complexity of the geographical distribution and the obvious transition.
