Abstract: Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq. is a kind of annual herb plant from the genus Nepeta of the family Lamiaceae, and it is a commonly used Chinese medicinal material for a long time. This paper had concluded the recent researches on the germplasm resources, cultivation methods, processing methods, chemical constituents, pharmacological actions and clinical applications. It had analyzed the progress and shortcomings of the present studies. It had pointed out that the current researches had mainly focused on the chemical constituents, pharmacological actions and clinical applications. However no research had been done on the diversity of germplasm resources and germplasm identification. The authors suggested that germplasm identification and quality control should be strengthened in the future in order to improve the quality of Chinese herbal medicines and to ensure drug safety and effectiveness in clinic.
