Abstract: In order to evaluate the drought tolerance of Acrocarpus fraxinifolius, through mimicing natural extreme drought condition, researched the physiologic characteristics of A. fraxinifolius during the period of drought stress on using potting way. The results showed that: during the period of drought stress, the content of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b of Acrocarpus fraxinifolius increased at first and then decreased, the content of the carotenoid tended to increase, and the of content of chlorophyll a was obviously higher than the chlorophyll b and carotenoid. The content of soluble sugar, soluble protein, free proline appeared trend of increasing first and decreasing afterwards; the plasm membrane permeability of Acrocarpus fraxinifolius appeared to be growing. Therefore, drought stress environment appeared 11th day later, and the critical soil water capacity was 20%. Physiological functions of Acrocarpus fraxinifolius began to lose 21th day later, the soil water capacity of 21th day (12.99%) might have reached the wilting coefficient.
