Abstract: Three Chinese journal-ranking systems, including“Chinese Core Journals”,“A Report on Chinese Academic Journals Evaluation”and“Chinese Science Citation Database”were compared and their evaluation of Chinese aquaculture journals was described. The differences and similarity of the three ranking systems were examined. Potential methods of improving the rank of aquaculture journals were summarized as: (1) publishing papers with clear research objectives and emphases; (2) valuing more on the first weighed impact factor; (3) emphasizing the citation rate of the papers published in the journal; (4) attaching a higher importance to second-hand citation rate, and ultimately attracting submission with high qualities; (5) putting more weight on the download rate from the journal website.
