Abstract: In order to study the rule of water quality changes under different breeding densities and to analyze the relationship between different breeding area, different breeding densities and economic benefit, the author studied the general pollution rule in white leg shrimp Penaeus vannamei ponds by monitoring different breeding density ponds continuously from May to August in 2012. Under the experimental testing density, the water qualities were in the normal range of shrimp for healthy growth. The contents of TN, TP, NH3-N and NO2-N increased with the increasing densities while the CODMn had no significant changes. The author studied the relationship between different breeding densities and area and economic benefit, and the results showed that area of 0.067 hm2 and breeding density of 1050 to 1500 thousand individuals per 0.067 hm2 were the best model for small-scale shrimp culture.
