Abstract: In order to explore the effect of different cultivation measures on the yield of the different sorghum varieties and to find the optimum cultivation model for high yield of sorghum, a field trial with sorghum varieties ‘Jinza No.23’and ‘JinZhong No.405’was conducted to investigate the effect of different planting densities, fertilizer application amounts and sowing dates on sorghum yield in the experimental plot of The Industrial Crop Institute of Shanxi Academy Agricultural Sciences, China. The results showed that ‘Jinza No.23’ belonged to high-yielding variety and was not suitable for close-planting, but ‘JinZhong No. 405’ belonged to close-planting variety and could obtained high-yield through increasing the population yield; with the delay of the sowing dates, the yields of ‘Jinza No.23’ and ‘JinZhong No.405’ tended to decline and were significant difference. The best cultivation measures of ‘Jinza No.23’ were with the fertilizer application amount of 225 kg/hm2, the planting density of 120000 plants/hm2, the sowing date of May 2nd; and the best cultivation measures of ‘JinZhong No. 405’ were with the fertilizer application amount of 225 kg/hm2, the planting density of 150000 plants/hm2, the sowing date of May 2nd.
