Effect of Plant Growth Regulators on Yield and Quality of Rice in the Cold Region

Abstract: In order to study the effects of different plant growth regulators on the yield and quality of rice in cold area, a rice cultivar, ‘Kongyu 131’ with four treatments of spraying plant growth regulators (PGRs) was employed to study leaf and tiller dynamic changes, changes of material production, transport and the output of rice after heading, different traits, yield components, yield and quality changes of agronomy, and the effects of PGRs on rice quality in a field experiment. The results showed that, compared with CK, spraying ND regulator significantly accelerated the leaf age of rice, increased the output rate and transport of tillers, panicle length and the number of?rice?heading to milk stage of rice leaf sheath rate, significantly increased the heading stage of rice photosynthetic potential and net assimilation rate, improved the rice grain weight, grain number and yield per plant, and increased rice yield by 7.04%. Yield increases were obtained with ND, followed by BaDao. On the other hand, foliar application of ND and BaDao improved the brown rice rate and milled rice rate, and ND showed the best effect. The spraying of PY significantly reduced plant height and internode length, inhibited the normal growth of plant height and internode length, significantly reduced chalky rice, percentage of chalky size and chalkiness degree, followed by BaDao. The above experiments showed that foliar application of ND and BaDao could improve the rice grain yield in cold region and improve the quality of rice.
