Abstract: Idesia polycarpa Maxim is an energy tree species with important broad application prospects. However，the poor and slow germination under natural conditions has affected its popularization and application seriously. In order to improve the efficiency of germination, the author researched the influencing factors of seed sterilization and germination, different disinfectant types (HgCl2, H2O2), disinfectant time and methods (H2SO4, ultrasonic treatment, cold stratification). The results showed that the treatment with 70% ethanol plus 10 min 30% hydrogen peroxide could get 90% germination rate and had no contamination within 15 days; also, the treatment with 5-10 min 20% hydrogen peroxide in combination with cold stratification could get 78% germination rate within 22 days.
