Abstract: In order to explore the optimal conditions of seed germination of Gentiana algida, the influence of seed germination by the different temperatures, the different light conditions and the different concentrations of GA3 treatments were studied. The results showed the seed germination rates were significantly influenced by different temperatures, as both low (5℃) and high (35℃) temperatures severely inhibited the seed germination. 25℃ was the most suitable temperature, the germination rate was 68.9%. Light condition was significant effect on the seed germination, because the dark condition was inconducive to the germination. The GA3 treatment improved the germination potential and the germination rate, but higher GA3 concentration treatment inhibited the seed germination. The 300-400 mg/L concentration of GA3 was the best treatment, and the germination rate reached above 85%. Therefore, the optimum temperature of the seed germination of G. algida was 25℃, light was also required in the process, and the 300-400 mg/L concentration of GA3 treatment increased the seed germination rate significantly.
