Abstract: In order to infer the systematic position of Beckmannia, the slides were made by epidermal maceration by sodium hypochlorite method, and the micro-morphology of leaf abaxial epidermis of Beckmannia and related genera was observed with light microscope. The results indicated that the lower epidermis of leaves of Beckmannia and related genera, Aveneae and Poeae plants were typical Festuca type, and had higher consistence. Intercostal long cells were mostly long cylinder with more straight cell walls and few undulating cell walls. The short-cells distributed frequently or rarely in intercostal zonation. The prickles and short-cells distributed in costal zone. The stomatal apparatus had 2-3 rows mostly. The subsidiary cells were parallel, and few subsidiary cells were low dome-shaped. The micro-morphology of leaf abaxial epidermis suggested that Beckmannia should not be placed in Chlorideae. Meanwhile, Aveneae and Poeae had arbitrary boundaries and should be combined into the broader Poeae, and Beckmannia was appropriate to place in the broader Poeae.
