Abstract: In order to research the efficient water-saving irrigation system of alfalfa in Xilin River Basin, based on field irrigation experiments, the irrigation system of alfalfa under drip irrigation in Xilin River Basin was studied. WIN ISAREG model was used to appraise the actual irrigation system. On this basis, multiple irrigation schemes design and simulation were conducted according to the water demand characteristics of alfalfa. The results showed that in the squaring stage, which was the critical period of water requirement of alfalfa, the soil water consumption rate was the lowest, and crop coefficient, yield response coefficient and evapotranspiration were the highest. Alfalfa field was irrigated ten times during the plant growth period, and the irrigation quantity was 250 mm, the rate of yield decline was 6.0%. The results can provide a reference for irrigation forecast of alfalfa and the irrigated artificial pasture construction in Xilin River Basin.
