Abstract: The paper aims to improve the forecast capability of consecutive autumn rain in central mountainous area of Shandong. Based on conventional data and daily average NCEP/NCAR 2.5°×2.5° reanalysis data, the circulate situation and the distribution characteristics of physical quantity during the autumn rain in mountainous area of the middle Shandong from September 27th to October 7th, 2007 were analyzed. The results showed that: during the consecutive rain, the large-scale circulate system was relatively stable, the high ridge in the Ural Mountains to the European area was stronger; east Asia westerly jet on 200 hPa maintained northerly, south Asia high was eastwards obviously, the subtropical high tended to westerly and northerly, the low trough in the Caspian and Balkis Lake area was strong; the 500 hPa low trough and the shear line in low level were the main influence weather systems in this rainy event; the high level divergence on 200 hPa in the south of east Asia westerly jet and in the northeast of south Asia high was the dynamic mechanism of a long time consecutive rainy days; the frequently tropical cyclone activity was conducive to sustained warm moist air flows in the outside of the north subtropical high to form the rainy days in the mountainous region of the middle Shandong; strong cold air moved southward and subtropical high quickly withdrew southward and eastward to the sea was the obvious sign that the rain was coming to an end.
