Abstract: To further explore the dynamic relationship and mutual feedback mechanism between urbanization and land intensive use and promote urban sustainable development, using the coupling coordination model and grey correlation model, we analyzed the coupling coordination and correlation between urbanization and land intensive use in Lanzhou from 2006 to 2015. The results showed that: the comprehensive indexes between urbanization and land intensive use in Lanzhou both showed a rising trend, and the level of land intensive use was ahead of the level of urbanization as a whole; the state of coupling coordination changed from moderate disorder to a good coordination and tended gradually to a coordinate development; the two systems of urbanization and land intensive use were interrelated, and the output benefits of land intensive use had a significantly positive effect on urbanization, while social urbanization and eco- urbanization were the main factors that affected land intensive use. In the future development, we should exert the counter-initiative effect of land intensive use on urbanization to accelerate the process of urbanization, and further improve coordination to promote urban sustainable development.
