Platform for Remote Sensing Monitoring of Crops in Shandong

Abstract: The accurate and timely information of agricultural condition is essential for policy making and agricultural production management. The remote sensing technology plays an increasingly important role in agricultural resource investigation, crop monitoring and disaster warning in Shandong, a professional platform for remote sensing monitoring of crops should to be established to provide service for agricultural production management. Using geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing (RS) and network technology, the basic design concept, design framework, main contents and overall deployment of the platform for remote sensing monitoring of crops were described based on MapGIS. The crop monitoring system could provide area monitoring, growth monitoring, yield monitoring and disaster monitoring of main crops, and services for special monitoring products of crops for the public.
