Abstract: At present, the expression of spatial data on the Web exposes some problems, such as large amount of data transmitted by the network, strong dependency of plug- ins and poor interactivity. To reduce the pressure of the browser and complete the visualization of spatial data on the Web quickly and efficiently, the paper proposed a technique displaying Kriging interpolation results based on the contour rendering method: with the support of Kriging interpolation algorithm and contour rendering method, the user selected the area within sample points through the“frame selection”tool on the Web, where the data of sample points was transmitted to the server for processing to generate interpolation results, then the results were rendered fleetly on the Web. The technique was applied in citrus information management system successfully, which indicated that the time of Kriging interpolation results displaying on the map was shortened effectively and the interactivity of the Web was enhanced significantly.
