Abstract: The volatile oil from Tamarindus indica L. was obtained by supercritical CO2 fluid (SFE-CO2). The influences of extraction temperature, pressure, time, particle size and CO2 flow on the extraction yield of volatile oil were investigated. The results of the experiments indicated that optimum extraction pressure, temperature, time, particle size and CO2 flow for the maximum extraction was 25MPa, 40℃, 4h, 40 mesh and 25 L/h respectively, the yield of SFE-CO2 extracts is 4.08%. The chemical constituents of extracts of Tamarindus indica L were determined by GC-MS. The relative contents of constitutes were determined by area normalizing method. 48 compounds were identified, amounting to total mass fraction 98.5%. The main compounds were 5-methyl-2(3H)-furanone, diethyl succinate, furfural, hexadecanoic acid, linolenic acid, 5-methylfurfural, oleic acid, linoleic acid, etc.
