Abstract: Huining-18, a spring-wheat cultivar, is bred in Huining County Agriculture Institute by selection from drought-tolerant F4 materials provided by Crop Research Institute, Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences who uses inter-genus crossbreeding method. The cultivar, as a spring-wheat variety, is suitable for rainfed or deficiently irrigated farms in central Gansu and Xiji county of Ningxia. Huining-18 grows semi-stolon seedlings and deep-colored leaves; it has spindly white ear, long awns and red grains. the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 30.5 to 46.3g, protein content is 18.74%. Its adult plant is immune to prevalent stripe rust such as Tiaozhong 31 and Tiaozhong 32. The cultivar also shows good drought tolerance.
